Believers Eastern Church Satgaon Mission Diocese, Lanka in Assam’s Hojai district hit the streets of Lanka town with an extensive cleanliness drive on Wednesday.
The drive was an effort to contribute in Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi clarion call against single use plastic and to pay rich tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary

The drive began from the railway station and culminated at main market with a special focus against single-use plastic goods.
“We have launched an extensive cleanliness campaign involving workers, Sister of Compassion, women and youths coming from different Parishes Under Satgaon Mission Diocese,” Diocese In charge, Rev Fr Thangho D said.
The participants turned out in large numbers and pledged for a neat and cleaner India.

Taking the broom to sweep the streets, cleaning up the garbage, the event was used to pledge to the citizens for a neat and cleaner India and bring awareness for use single plastic.
Holding a placard with the word ‘Save Earth, Ban Plastic’ and 500 single use cotton bags were disturbed to the shopkeepers at Lanka town.
