As a mark of the year-long celebrations of Mahatma Gandhiโs 150th birthday celebrations, the Embassy of India in Myanmar hosted a musical event at Yangon.
The event, titled โMahatmArpanโ, was organized as tribute to Indiaโs โFather of the Nationโ Mahatma Gandhi, who is also called as โBapuโ, at a hotel in Yangon on Sunday.
The event was graced by Yangon Region chief minister U Phyo Min Thein accompanied by his wife.
The event commenced with the lighting of a lamp by U Phyo Min Thein, the chief minister of Yangon Region and Saurabh Kumar, the Ambassador of India to Myanmar and his wife Smriti Shrivastav.

Renowned classical Carnatic vocalist Dr. Vasumathi Badrinathan and her group mesmerized the audience with their performance.
Informing about the event, the Embassy of India at Yanoon on its Twitter handle has stated: โEmbassy of India organized an event #MahatmArpan โ a musical tribute to Gandhiji โ in Yangon to celebrate #BapuAt150.โ
โโMahatmArpanโ was performed by Dr. Vasumathi Badrinathan, a renowned classical Carnatic Vocalist & her group,โ it added.
In the same event, the classic โHind Swarajโ, written by Mahatma Gandhi and now made available in Myanmar language, was released by the Ambassador of India to Myanmar Saurabh Kumar and the chief minister of Yangon Region, U Phyo Min Thein.

Meanwhile, the Embassy of India in Myanmar also extended support to Myanmar in their fight against rabies.
The Indian government donated over 10,000 vials of anti-rabies vaccine to the ministry of health & sports, Government of Myanmar.
Sharing this news, on their Twitter handle, the Embassy of India at Yangon said, โSupporting Myanmar in its fight against Rabies.โ
โThe Government of India hands over 10,000 vials of Anti-Rabies Vaccine to Ministry of Health & Sports, Government of Myanmar,โ it added.
