โ€œThe NRC should be based on caste, creed, religion and language. No one should be discriminated irrespective whether he is a Hindu, Muslim, or Bengali,โ€ Deb Barman added.

โ€œJust on the basis of some doubt, a person should not be discriminated and every Indian citizen must be included in the NRC,โ€ he reiterated.

He also advocated for a National Refugee Policy (NRP) in the country for distinguishing among the genuine refugees and the illegal migrants.
