All Koch Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) on Monday thanked the Assam government for announcing to create the Kamtapur Autonomous Council (KAC) for the Koch Rajbongshi community.
An AKRSU delegation, comprising its president and several other office bearers, called on Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati and thanked him for the announcement.

Sonowal acknowledged the Koch Rajbongshi community towards socio-economic empowerment of the state.
He asked the members to decide on the modalities as well as other parameters they want to be incorporated into the council and expedite the process for creating the council.
The delegation also put forward other issues that the community is confronting with and sought Sonowal’s help.

Sonowal assured the delegation every help from the government to meet the aspirations of the people of the community expeditiously.
The AKRSU delegation was accompanied by Assam consumer affairs minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury and tourism minister Chandan Brahma.
