Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said he has given his social media handles to seven women achievers on the occasion of International Womenโs Day.
In a statement on Twitter, Modi stated that the women will share their life journeys and interact with people through his social media accounts.
He tweeted:
โGreetings on International Womenโs Day! We salute the spirit and accomplishments of our Nari Shakti. As Iโd said a few days ago, Iโm signing off. Through the day, seven women achievers will share their life journeys and perhaps interact with you through my social media accounts.โ

The first to tweet from Modiโs account was Sneha Mohandoss, the founder of Food Bank India.
In her first post from the PMโs Twitter handle, she posted a video and introduced herself.
Mohandoss tweeted:
โYou heard of food for thought. Now, it is time for action and a better future for our poor. Hello, I am @snehamohandoss. Inspired by my mother, who instilled the habit of feeding the homeless, I started this initiative called Foodbank India. #SheInspiresUsโ
Her posts also appeared on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts of the Prime Minister.
The second lady to tweet from PMโs Twitter handle was Malavika Iyer, a disability rights activist who lost both her arms in a bomb blast.

In her first tweet, Malvika stated:

Last week, Modi has declared to โdonateโ his social media accounts for a day to women whose work and life inspire us after he raised curiosity by announcing that he would be giving up all social media accounts today.
The Prime Minister is one of the most-followed world leaders on social media with 53.3 million followers on Twitter, 44 million on Facebook and 35.2 million on Instagram.
