A female worker of the Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI (M)) was injured in Agartala on Monday when the group of silent protesters she was a part of was attacked by the police.

The All India Democratic Womenโ€™s Association on Monday called a state-wide protest demonstration against the rising crime against women in Tripura.

โ€œWe were protesting by adhering to social distancing norms when police tried to arrest us forcibly,โ€ said CPI (M) leader Jharna Devi.

โ€œLipika Das- an active member of our organisation- was injured in the scuffle,โ€ Devi added.

A video of the attack has even gone viral on social media.
