At a time when COVID-19 pandemic has bought life to a standstill across the globe and workplaces are opening with full precautions, ONGC has been alleged of neglecting protocols associated with the infection.
“An employee, identified as Hemant Kumar, working at Rig E-1400-1 of the ONGC in Nazira tested positive for COVID-19 on July 29,” a source informed.

“Even though the patient was sent for treatment, however, the ONGC neither declared the area as containment zone nor did it carried out rapid antigen test of the other employees for two days,” the source added.
“On the contrary, ONGC flouted every COVID-19 protocols and it continued drilling work in the rig like before,” the source further said.
“Moreover, two more employees- JRM Rakesh Neog and engineer Pranabjit Dihingia tested COVID-19 positive on August 1,” the source further said.

“Why was work allowed to continue in the rig even after an employee tested positive for COVID-19 on July 29, the ONGC needs to answer this,” the source further said.
“Question is why wasn’t the said rig sanitised even after an employee testing positive for coronavirus,” the source said.
The source criticised the ONGC for its negligence and alleged that it has now put everyone’s life in danger.
