Silchar police on Saturday informed that they have successfully arrested three persons involved with the kidnap and murder of a five-month-old baby.
The deceased infant has been identified as Dhrubajyoti, whose father Debojyoti Nath is a motor mechanic.

The five-month-old baby was kidnapped by three persons on Tuesday night from his house at Kazidahar area in Cachar district while he was asleep beside his parents.
“Since the infant was constantly crying in the custody of the kidnappers, the kidnappers strangulated him and buried the body under a bridge at Amjurghat, about 7 km from Kazidahar,” the police said.
“Demanding a ransom of Rs 10 lakh, the kidnappers contacted the infant’s parents on Wednesday. However, the ransom amount was reduced to Rs 1.5 lakh after negotiations,” police added.

“When a woman relative of the family went to a tea garden on Friday to hand over the money, police personnel in disguise arrested the culprits, who admitted to their crime,” the police added.
Police are now looking for a few other accused in the case.
