Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb has stated that variants of COVID-19 mutate into another form after infecting people. 

Tripura CM Biplab Deb, who also holds the health portfolio of the state said, โ€œA variant of COVID-19 may mutate into another variant in 15 days after infecting a person.โ€

This statement from the Tripura chief minister comes just days after the Centre denied State Governmentโ€™s claim that Delta Plus variant was detected in 138 cases of COVID-19 in the state recently. 

CM Deb said: โ€œThe central government is monitoring the COVID situation across the country and we in Tripura are following all guidelines.โ€

He added: โ€œThere is nothing to panic. I urge everyone in Tripura to follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour.โ€ 

The Centre recently said that not a single case of Delta Plus variant has been found in the state so far, adding, the results of genome sequencing reveal cases of Delta variant of the virus. 

โ€œThere was no case of Delta Plus reported among the lot of sequenced samples,โ€ a communiquรฉ said.
