JORHAT: The lawyers’ fraternity in Jorhat district of Assam, on Tuesday (March 12), staged demonstration against the central government’s decision to implement the controversial citizenship amendment act (CAA).
Holding placards that read “No CAA” and “We Oppose CAA”, lawyers from Jorhat district in Assam registered their opposition to the controversial law.

Besides lawyers, members of different political parties and organisations also protested the implementation of CAA.
In the adjacent district of Sivasagar, members of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) took to the streets of Sivasagar town in Assam to mark their protest against the law.
Notably, Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi also led an anti-CAA protest of the Raijor Dal party in the town.

Several KMSS activists were detained by the police in Sivasagar district of Assam for taking out the anti-CAA rally.
