Guwahati: Three students from Girijananda Chowdhury University (GCU) in Guwahait, Assam are currently in Moscow, Russia, participating in the International Summer School at Patrice Lumumba Peoplesโ€™ Friendship University.

This unique opportunity arises from a growing academic partnership between the two institutions.

The students, Nihali Madhukoulya, Prachita Duara, and Bilakshi Bordolaye, will immerse themselves in Russian language, culture, and history through a month-long program.

Their visit marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between GCU and the renowned Russian university.

The exchange program was initiated by GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Kandarpa Das during his visit to Russia last year.

A subsequent visit by Prof Svetlana Elnikova from Patrice Lumumba University to the GCU campus solidified the partnership, leading to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in April 2024.

Girijananda Chowdhury University in a statement said that it hopes to further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions through such collaborative endeavours, which contribute to academic excellence and cultural dialogue between the two nations.
