Guwahati: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Friday said the state government will work to implement all practical recommendations from the 60th National Level DGP/IGP Conference held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, in November, aimed at strengthening policing in the state.
He noted that support from the central government would be necessary for full implementation.
Speaking at the State Level Police Conference in Aizawl, Lalduhoma said the national conference, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had put forward 107 recommendations to modernise and improve policing nationwide.
The CM praised Mizoram Police for their performance over the past two years, pointing out that drug abuse in the state has decreased due to their sustained efforts.
He also stated that Rs 3.18 crore has already been received under the Police Modernisation Scheme, with an additional Rs 21.276 crore approved.
These funds will be used to acquire essential police equipment, including three bulletproof vehicles.
Lalduhoma acknowledged Director General of Police Sharad Agarwal for his role in securing the funds.
