Manipur IDPs relief camps

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Thursday interacted live with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in various relief camps across Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, and Imphal West districts, officials reported.

This marked the first such live interaction by a state leader since ethnic violence erupted on May 3, 2023, which has claimed over 260 lives and rendered more than 60,000 people homeless.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister confirmed he interacted with IDPs live at the Alternate Housing Complex, National Games Village, Langol, Imphal West, on Thursday. He emphasized that the state government is working diligently to restore normalcy.

In his official update, the Chief Minister wrote:

“Pleased to interact with and monitor the IDP relief camp at the National Games Village, Imphal West, this morning. Interacted with them while also monitoring relief camps in Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts through video conferencing, covering a total of 38 locations. Listened attentively to their most pressing needs and urgent challenges.”

“Express my sincere gratitude to Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Nemcha Kipgen Ji and the Hon’ble MLAs of Churachandpur district for their kind arrangements and necessary modalities that ensured the smooth conduct of the programme.”

Reaffirmed the Government’s firm commitment to addressing the grievances of all affected families and ensuring their safe and dignified return to their homes at the earliest.”
