Imphal: Ahead of the Holi (Yaoshang) festival in Manipur, central security forces and Manipur Police, in coordinated joint efforts, arrested three insurgents from different outlawed outfits and recovered arms, ammunition, and a stolen vehicle in separate operations on Sunday, police reported on Monday.
In Manipur, the Holi festival will begin on Tuesday and continue until March 7, 2026.
In the first operation, an active cadre of the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Party of Kangleipak Progressive (PREPAK-Pro), identified as Khaidem Narendra Singh alias Angou alias Maikeingakpa (29), was arrested.
He was apprehended from his residence-cum-hideout at Wangoi Khaidem Leikai in Imphal West district, under the jurisdiction of Wangoi Police Station. From his possession, one 9mm pistol with a magazine, four rounds of 9mm ammunition, and one mobile phone with a SIM card were seized.
Following his interrogation, another PREPAK-Pro cadre, identified as Khundrakpam Anilkumar Singh alias Manganglakpa (21) of Sawombung Thongkhong, was apprehended at Phaknung Awang Leikai under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. A mobile phone was seized from him.
In a third operation, the joint team arrested an active cadre of the proscribed Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from the Yairipok Lamkhai area in Thoubal district.
He was identified as Ibungomacha Laishram alias Rocky alias Ibomcha (43), a resident of Gaili village in Peren, Nagaland, currently residing at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai in Imphal West district. A mobile phone and a SIM card were seized from his possession.
In the final operation of the day, a Honda Activa two-wheeler reported stolen from the Mayang Imphal area on February 11, 2026, was recovered from the jurisdiction of Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district.
Police added that the arrested individuals and the recovered items were handed over to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings.
