Bajali: A tense situation has prevailed in the Hathina Pur area under Assam’s Bajali district for the past four days after stones were reportedly hurled at the residence of a family following the recent suicide of a man.

According to local residents, the stone pelting began shortly after evening and continued intermittently through the night. Family members inside the house reported hearing repeated thuds on the roof and walls, triggering fear and confusion across the locality.

As news of the incident spread, villagers stepped out of their homes carrying torches and sticks to safeguard their families and property.

Several youths reportedly patrolled the area until late at night in an effort to identify those responsible. However, no one has been caught so far.

The unusual nature of the incident has led to widespread speculation. Rumours of possible “supernatural involvement” circulated among some residents, further intensifying panic.

Many villagers have reportedly become hesitant to step outside after dark.

Meanwhile, a section of locals believes that some miscreants may be attempting to create unrest by taking advantage of the tragic situation. They have demanded a thorough investigation and the deployment of adequate security personnel to prevent further disturbances.

As of filing this report, no official statement has been issued regarding the cause of the stone pelting. The village remains on edge as residents await clarity over the unsettling episode.
