North Lakhimpur: A youth from Assamโ€™s Lakhimpur district was found dead in Kolkata on Monday,

Lakhiram Pegu, son of Dhutiram and Basanti Pegu, from Khalihamari village under Bogeenadi Police Station in Lakhimpur district, was in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to attend a business meeting of the pharmaceutical company where he was employed.

Pegu was in transit to his home in Howrah, Kolkata, when he fell ill. The caretaker of the hotel found him in ailing condition and admitted him to a local hospital, where he passed away on March 9.

The incident has sent shockwaves through his native village, where family members and villagers have been raising questions about his death. They have demanded a thorough inquiry.

His mortal remains were brought on Wednesday to his native village in Khalihamari, Bogeenadi, Lakhimpur, where his last rites were performed.
