Imphal: A bomb exploded in Manipur’s Noney district, killing a three-year-old child on the spot and injuring his father on Saturday morning, reports said.
The incident occurred around 8:30 AM, when the father and his child were cleaning their residential area in Taolingpung village, Nongpholong Khoupum, under Noney Police Station in Noney district.
A suspected lethal bomb went off accidentally while the child was assisting his father with the cleaning.
The child died of multiple injuries on the spot, and his seriously injured father was rushed to RIMS Hospital in Imphal after receiving first aid at Khoupum Primary Health Centre, Noney.
Police and bomb experts rushed to the spot and assessed the situation.
A case has been registered for further investigation. Further details are awaited.
