Guwahati: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) announced another set of candidates for Assamโ€™s 2026 Assembly elections on Sunday, March 22.

This round features seven nominees, including Sherman Ali Ahmed for Mandia in Barpeta. The party also chose Rojy Ahmed (Funu Das) for Hajo-Sualkuchi (SC) and Avijit Mazumdar for Guwahati Central.

From Upper Assam, Inus Kumar Kandapan will contest in Chabua-Lahowal, while Paresh Borah is the partyโ€™s pick for Mariani in Jorhat. In Karimganj, Parimal Ranjan Roy will stand for the North seat, and Aziz Ahmed Khan (Ranu Khan) for the South.

AITC made one adjustment to its earlier announcements: the candidate previously expected for Chamaria will not be contesting.

The party will not put forward more than one candidate from the same family in the elections. As a result, Rojy Ahmed (Funu Das), spouse of Dulu Ahmed, will represent Hajo-Sualkuchi, while Dulu Ahmed has stepped back from Chamaria.

Earlier, the party had revealed its first batch of 17 candidates for the upcoming Assam polls.
