Militants arrested in Manipur
In the first operation, Manipur Police arrested 14 cadres of the UNLF-Koireng from the Haokhong area under Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district.

Imphal: Central security forces and Manipur Police arrested 14 cadres of the outlawed United National Liberation Front-Koireng (UNLF-Koireng) and one cadre of the banned Revolutionary People’s Party of Kangleipak Progressive (PREPAK-PRO), along with arms, ammunition, explosives, four vehicles, and Rs 1 lakh in cash.

According to a Manipur Police morning bulletin on Monday, these anti-insurgency operations were carried out across three districts within the past 24 hours.

In the first operation, Manipur Police arrested 14 cadres of the UNLF-Koireng from the Haokhong area under Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district.

The arrested individuals were identified as Nameirakpam Kondum Meitei @ Lanheiba (46) of Khumbong Makha Leikai, Imphal West district; Sorokhaibam Rosesh @ Kangleipuba @ Kilo-I (43) of Chairen Leingangtabi, Bishnupur district; Takhelchangbam Rajendro Sharma @ Khaba (59) of Bamaon Leikai Mange Makhong, Imphal East district; and Yelam Ratan Singh @ Khamba (54) of Khurai Chingambam Leikai, Imphal East district.

Others arrested include Ahanthem Ratan Meitei @ Shiroi (30) of Kumbi Haotak, Bishnupur district; Soyam Sanjeep (42) of Khurai Thongam Leikai, Imphal East district; Toijam Karjit Singh (20) of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai, Imphal West district; and Pukhrihongbam Nongsaba Meitei @ Laidaba (18) of Ngamukhong, Thoubal district.

The remaining arrested persons were Kanghujam Myson Meitei (17) of Taobungkhok Awang Leikai, Imphal West district; Thoudam Muna Meitei @ Inao (19) of New Keithelmanbi Awang Leikai, Imphal West district; Konsam Bebeto Meetei (28) of Khurai Konsam Leikai, Imphal East district; Wahengbam Santosh Meitei (19) of Kumbi Haotak, Bishnupur district; Kshetrimayum Dickson Singh (19) of Kodompokpi Mamang Leikai, Imphal West district; and Chingakham Romesh Singh @ Yaiphaba (30) of Takhel Mamang Leikai, Imphal East district.

The following items were recovered from their possession: two INSAS rifles, eight INSAS LMG magazines, five INSAS rifle magazines, 100 rounds of INSAS ammunition, cash amounting to Rs 1,00,000 (one lakh), 12 mobile phones, five helmets, five backpacks, and four four-wheeler vehicles. Further investigation is underway.

During the second operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of the Revolutionary People’s Party of Kangleipak Progressive (PREPAK-PRO), identified as Thoudam Johnjackson Singh (42) of Singjamei Liwa Road Ahongshangbam Leikai, from his residence under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West district. A mobile phone and a SIM card were seized from him.

A third operation, conducted in the K. Geljang area under Churachandpur police station, resulted in the recovery of one RPG grenade, three 30 mm grenades, one 81 mm mortar bomb, one IED, two 40 mm grenades, two single-barrel rifles, and seven rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition.

In a fourth operation, Manipur Police recovered a hand grenade from the Thoubal Bazar area under Thoubal police station in Thoubal district.

Furthermore, as part of a continued drive to curb motor vehicle offences, Manipur Police issued 29 challans to offenders between March 16 and March 22, 2026, collecting a total fine of Rs 68,000.
