Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday announced the names of 12 MLAs who will be inducted into the state Cabinet, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for June 5.
In a post on X, Sarma said the oath-taking ceremony would be held at 12:45 pm on Friday.
The legislators set to be sworn in as Cabinet ministers are Ashwini Ray Sarkar, Ashok Singhal, Bimal Borah, Biswajit Daimary, Jayanta Mallabaruah, Kaushik Rai, Keshab Mahanta, Krishnendu Paul, Nilima Devi, Pijush Hazarika, Ranoj Pegu and Susanta Borgohain.
The induction of the 12 legislators will complete the formation of the Council of Ministers under the BJP-led NDA government headed by Sarma.
Details regarding portfolio allocation are expected to be announced after the swearing-in ceremony.
Sarma was sworn in as Chief Minister for a second consecutive term on May 12 after the NDA secured a decisive victory in the Assembly elections, winning 102 of the 126 seats.
The BJP won 82 seats, while its allies โ the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) secured 10 seats each.
Along with Sarma, AGP president Atul Bora, Ajanta Neog, Rameswar Teli and Charan Boro were sworn in as Cabinet ministers on May 12.
