Imphal: Manipur Police seized 3,680 litres of petrol and detained two drivers during an operation along the Pallelโ€“Chandel road on Wednesday.

The operation was carried out around noon near Pioneer School, where police intercepted two vehicles transporting large quantities of fuel.

The first vehicle, a Yodha (MN09B-0472) driven by Pasel Nepolian Anal (43) of Panchai village in Chandel district, was found carrying 11 plastic containers containing approximately 2,420 litres of petrol.

The second vehicle, an Eeco Van (MN06LX593) driven by Lh. Koko George (29), also a resident of Panchai village, was found carrying six plastic containers holding around 1,260 litres of petrol.

According to police, the two drivers disclosed during questioning that the fuel was being transported along the Imphalโ€“Moreh road for delivery to Myanmar.

In total, police recovered 17 containers containing approximately 3,680 litres of petrol.

The two vehicles, the detained drivers and the seized fuel were subsequently handed over to Kakching Police Station for further legal proceedings.
