Imphal: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on Wednesday expressed grief over the recovery of bodies of six Naga individuals who were taken hostage by alleged militants on May 13 and called for a thorough investigation into the killings.

In a statement, the apex Kuki body condemned the deaths and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

“The loss of any human life is a tragedy,” KIM said, urging all communities and stakeholders to exercise restraint and maintain peace in the wake of the incident.

The organisation also appealed to the public to refrain from speculation and the circulation of unverified information that could further inflame tensions.

KIM urged the authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the case and ensure that the matter is dealt with in accordance with the law.

The statement comes hours after security forces recovered bodies believed to be those of six Naga men who had been missing since they were taken hostage in Kangpokpi district on May 13.

Reiterating its commitment to peace and justice, KIM said it remained committed to promoting harmonious coexistence among all communities in Manipur.
