Guwahati: The Kuki National Front (KNF) has strongly denied allegations linking it to recent incidents of violence in Manipur and has condemned what it described as a sustained campaign of misinformation against the organization.
In a press release issued on June 13, 2026, the group stated that it has โbeen constantly accusedโ by sections of the media, social media handlers and commentators of involvement in attacks on civilians, inter-village clashes and other incidents of hostility in the state.
The organisation categorically rejected any role in the alleged attacks on Loibol Khullen village, Kultuh village and Langka village, as well as in related incidents reported in various parts of the hill districts. It further denied involvement in alleged retaliatory violence following earlier incidents, including claims of abduction and killings in Kuki-inhabited areas.
Calling the allegations โbaseless and factually void,โ the KNF alleged that certain media houses, political actors and civil society voices were circulating unverified claims that were aggravating tensions in an already volatile situation in Manipur.
The group also claimed that ongoing unrest in the hill areas was being โengineeredโ to disrupt the political dialogue between Kuki-Zo representatives and the Government of India, particularly discussions linked to the Suspension of Operations (SoO) framework.
Reiterating its position, the KNF said it remains committed to resolving the long-standing political issue of the Kuki-Zo people through dialogue and not through military means. It also stated that village volunteers in Kuki areas have been operating since the outbreak of ethnic conflict in 2023 to protect local communities and properties.
The organisation further alleged that attempts were being made to โmalignโ its image and derail ongoing peace efforts, describing such narratives as politically motivated.
Concluding its statement, the KNF urged media organisations to verify facts before reporting and appealed for restraint in disseminating unconfirmed information, stating that โtruth must prevail over misinformation.โ
