Guwahati: Meghalaya has begun preparations for the 2026 electoral roll revision, with election personnel in different parts of Garo Hills receiving training ahead of the exercise.
A training programme was held in Tikrikilla on Thursday for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) working in the Raksamgre and Tikrikilla Assembly constituencies.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Pearla D. Sangma told participants that accurate information collected from the field would be crucial to ensuring a reliable voter database.
As part of the revision process, BLOs will conduct door-to-door verification across the two constituencies between June 30 and July 29.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the Office of the District Election Officer in South West Garo Hills organised a separate orientation programme for BLO supervisors and enumerators from the Ampati, Mahendraganj and Salmanpara Assembly segments.
The participants were briefed on the procedures to be followed during the voter list revision, which will be carried out using October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date.
Officials also explained the methods for checking and validating voter information to minimise errors during the exercise.
Participants were instructed to pay close attention to the verification process and ensure that all entries are properly examined before inclusion in the updated voter database.
Officials said meticulous fieldwork would be essential for producing a dependable voter list.
