Doomdooma: Police have arrested two more persons for allegedly providing logistical support to United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I), widening the investigation into a suspected militant plot that was foiled in Assam’s Tinsukia district.

The arrests come days after Tinsukia Police apprehended two suspected ULFA(I) cadres who were allegedly planning indiscriminate firing and grenade attacks targeting civilians in Tinsukia town.

Acting on leads obtained during interrogation, investigators arrested Bitu Bora and Kalpa Bora, both residents of Panitola, for their alleged role in facilitating the planned operation.

According to police, Bitu Bora owned the Swift car allegedly used to transport the two suspected ULFA(I) operatives, while Kalpa Bora is accused of providing logistical assistance.

Police said the two allegedly disclosed during interrogation that the vehicle had been arranged on the instructions of senior ULFA(I) leader Aiseng Asom, providing investigators with fresh leads into the outfit’s operational network.

Investigators are examining whether additional individuals were involved in facilitating the alleged conspiracy. Security has also been stepped up across Tinsukia district, with intensified checking at strategic locations and enhanced surveillance in vulnerable areas.

Police said further operations are underway to identify and apprehend others suspected of having links to the alleged conspiracy. Authorities added that the investigation remains ongoing and that legal action would be taken against all those found to be connected with the case.
