Dima Hasao Ethnic Fest 2026
Dima Hasao will host the Ethnic Fest 2026 every weekend in July to promote tourism, tribal culture and local businesses.

Haflong: With tourist arrivals increasing during the summer vacation, the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), in collaboration with Dima Hasao Tourism and the district’s Cultural Department, will organise the Dima Hasao Ethnic Fest 2026 every weekend throughout July to promote tourism and showcase the district’s rich cultural heritage.

Announcing the initiative at a press conference at the Tourist Information Centre in Haflong on Tuesday, Chairman of Dima Hasao Tourism Josringdao Phonglo said the festival will be held every Friday and Saturday at some of the district’s major tourist attractions, including Haflong Lake, the I Love Dima Hasao View Point, Umrongso Golf Course and Jatinga.

Phonglo said the festival will feature stalls showcasing ethnic cuisine, traditional attire and locally made handicrafts, providing visitors with an opportunity to experience the district’s diverse tribal culture. Cultural performances, including traditional dances by various indigenous communities of Dima Hasao, will also be organised during the event.

He said the festival aims to support local entrepreneurs, artisans and small businesses by creating a platform to market their products while enhancing the overall tourism experience for visitors.

According to Phonglo, the initiative is expected to boost the local economy, encourage greater tourist participation and further strengthen Dima Hasao’s position as one of Assam’s emerging tourism destinations during the peak holiday season.
