Imphal: Security forces arrested two insurgent cadres belonging to banned outfits and an alleged extortionist during coordinated anti-insurgency operations carried out across three valley districts of Manipur on Tuesday.
According to the Manipur Police morning bulletin issued on Wednesday, an active cadre of the outlawed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF-PLA), the political wing of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA), was apprehended from a hideout in the Utlou area under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur district. The arrested individual was identified as Keisham Kenedy Singh alias Roger (38), a resident of Utlou Mamang Keisham Leikai.
In another operation, security personnel arrested an active cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party-Nongdrenkhomba (KCP-N). The accused, identified as Moirangthem Thoiba Singh (30) of Sugnu Makha Leikai, was apprehended from his locality under the jurisdiction of Sugnu Police Station in Kakching district.
In a separate operation, security forces also arrested an alleged extortionist, Ningthoujam Roshan Singh (29), from his residence under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district. Police said he had been extorting money from vehicles passing through the area.
According to the police, incriminating documents and communication devices were recovered from the possession of the arrested individuals. All three have been handed over to their respective police stations for further investigation and legal proceedings.
