Dimapur: Nagaland Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen on Thursday directed all departments to formulate practical and implementable action plans to enforce the plastic-free initiative, beginning with the Nagaland Civil Secretariat.
Chairing a meeting of administrative heads of departments and heads of departments at the Secretariat Conference Hall of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima, Imchen also asked departments to lead by example in promoting environmentally sustainable practices.
During the meeting, Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha presented the governmentโs Plastic Free and Green Office Initiative.
Sinha stressed the need for departments to avoid using single-use plastic materials during official functions and office events.
He asked all departments to strictly adhere to the initiative and work collectively towards creating plastic-free government offices.
Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema directed all departments to complete activities under the State Plan according to the prescribed calendar of action timelines to ensure the timely implementation of government programmes.
Secretary and Chairperson of the Comprehensive Manpower Rationalisation Committee Akubu Meyase highlighted the concept and objectives of comprehensive manpower rationalisation, emphasising the importance of optimising human resources across government departments.
The meeting also deliberated on various other important matters, with members sharing their views and suggestions on key issues and concerns requiring immediate attention.
