Imphal: A man was killed, and seven others were injured in a three-vehicle collision on National Highway-102 at Khangabok Sanilou near the 3rd IRB camp in Manipur’s Thoubal district late Sunday night.

The accident occurred around 10:20 pm when a Hyundai i20, a Maruti van and a Honda Activa were involved in a head-on collision, according to police. The impact left the vehicles badly damaged and debris scattered across the highway.

The deceased has been identified as Ningthoujam Inaocha Singh (38), a resident of Heirok Part-I. He sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. His body has been shifted to the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) mortuary for post-mortem examination.

Seven others injured in the crash were rushed to Thoubal District Hospital for treatment. They have been identified as Naorem Inaocha (44) and Biken, who were travelling in the Hyundai i20; Moirangthem Pradip (26) and Nongthombam Dasa Singh (20), occupants of the Maruti van; and Honda Activa riders Md Suhail Abbas (24), Md Jamal (32) and Md Imran (37).

Police have registered a case in connection with the accident and seized all three vehicles involved. An investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the collision.
