Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to establishing a permanent campus for the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Manipur while addressing the institute’s 13th convocation at the City Convention Centre in Imphal.
The Chief Minister said discussions with stakeholders were underway to secure land for the permanent campus at the earliest. He also acknowledged the support of MLA Rameshwar Singh in the process.
Congratulating the graduating students, Khemchand Singh said technical education would play an important role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
He said graduates from disciplines such as civil, computer science, electronics, electrical and mechanical engineering would contribute significantly to nation-building and regional development.
Describing NIT Manipur as a premier technical institution in the Northeast, the Chief Minister urged students to pursue excellence and emerge as future leaders and innovators.
Chairperson of the Board of Governors Bajrang Lal Bagra also addressed the convocation, highlighting the importance of ethics and compassion in education.
Gold medals and awards were presented to meritorious students in the presence of NIT Manipur Director Prof. D.V.L.N. Somayajulu and Registrar Prof. Khumukcham Tomba Singh.
