Manipur RPF PLA cadres arrested

Imphal: Manipur Police have arrested an active cadre of the outlawed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) and its armed wing, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), who was allegedly involved in planting grenades in the Imphal area.

Acting on specific intelligence, a Manipur Police team raided the Thangmeiband Khuyathong Polem Leikai area in Imphal West on Tuesday night and arrested Thokchom Sanju Meitei alias Luwang (26), a resident of Langmeidong Mamang Leikai in Kakching district.

Two hand grenades were seized from his possession.

Police also reported that another RPF/PLA cadre, Ngangbam Nanao Singh (41), a resident of Wangoo Ahallup Sanasam Leikai under Kumbi Police Station in Bishnupur district, was arrested from his residence.

In a follow-up operation, security forces arrested a third active RPF/PLA cadre, Wahengbam Mayday Singh alias Loya (24), a resident of Awangkhunou Lamkhai under Patsoi Police Station in Imphal West district, from his residence.

All the arrested individuals and the recovered materials have been handed over to the respective local police stations for further legal proceedings.
