Doomdooma: The Assam Power Department has intensified efforts to restore electricity in the flood-affected districts of Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat and Charaideo by reconnecting damaged transformers and repairing power infrastructure.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday praised the department’s personnel for their round-the-clock efforts to restore power and help flood-affected people return to normal life.
In a statement shared on social media, Sarma said, “Despite the difficult flood situation, our Power Department has been working round the clock with the aim of helping the affected people return to normal life.”
According to the Chief Minister, restoration teams have been reconnecting damaged transformers, restoring electricity distribution networks and taking all possible measures to resume power supply to individual households in the affected areas.
The flood situation has remained a major challenge across parts of Upper Assam, with Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat and Charaideo among the districts affected since last month.
Damage to electrical infrastructure has added to the difficulties faced by residents in several inundated and flood-hit areas.
Sarma acknowledged the efforts of officers, engineers, technical personnel and other workers of the Power Department, particularly for continuing restoration work under challenging conditions.
“I sincerely appreciate every officer, engineer, technical staff member and worker of the Power Department who are performing their duties with dedication, courage and a spirit of service during this difficult time,” he said.
The restoration of electricity remains crucial to the recovery of flood-affected communities, as power supply is essential for communication, drinking water systems, healthcare services, and the gradual return of households and businesses to normal functioning.
