Guwahati: The National Security Guard (NSG) has launched its first Mahila Commando Conversion Course (MCCC) at its training centre in Manesar, Haryana, for women personnel drawn from State Police Forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
The 12-week programme aims to equip selected women personnel with specialised skills required for counter-terror operations, including physical conditioning, weapons handling, marksmanship, tactical intervention and hostage rescue.
According to the NSG, the course has been designed to develop women commandos with strong physical endurance, technical proficiency and operational capabilities suited to demanding security missions.
The NSG said the initiative seeks to extend its specialised counter-terror expertise to women personnel across various security forces while establishing common professional standards and improving coordination among India’s security agencies.
Upon completing the course, the women commandos will return to their respective parent forces and apply their enhanced combat skills and operational expertise. The NSG said this would help strengthen preparedness and create a broader and more resilient counter-terror response capability across the country.
The force described the launch of the first MCCC as a significant milestone in women’s empowerment, saying the programme would expand women’s participation in specialised security roles through advanced operational training.
The NSG said the initiative would prepare women personnel to take on some of the most demanding specialist assignments in internal security and contribute to India’s evolving counter-terrorism capabilities.
