Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday, August 25, said Dhubri Police rescued 20 bovine animals allegedly being transported illegally in a small boat and arrested three people in connection with the operation.
Sarma shared the information in a post on X, stating that the animals were recovered during an operation against an alleged cattle-smuggling network.
According to the Chief Minister, the three accused were arrested following the interception of the boat.
Sarma reiterated his governmentโs focus on cow protection and said enforcement agencies would continue action against alleged cattle-smuggling networks operating across Assam.
He also asserted that those involved in such activities would face legal action regardless of the routes used to transport the animals.
