Agartala: Tripura recorded a 3.15 per cent increase in tourist arrivals in 2025-26 compared with the previous financial year, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury informed the state Assembly on Thursday.
Chowdhury provided the figures in response to questions raised by MLAs Tofajjal Hossain and Antara Sarkar Deb on the opening day of the monsoon session.
According to the minister, 7,29,414 tourists visited the state in 2025-26, including 7,10,243 domestic and 19,171 international visitors. The corresponding figure for 2024-25 was 7,07,173, comprising 6,27,705 domestic and 79,468 international tourists.
The state recorded 5,45,299 tourist arrivals in 2023-24, including 4,69,328 domestic and 75,971 international visitors, the minister said.
Chowdhury also informed the House that around 12 new small and medium tourism infrastructure projects had been developed in the state.
Work on five major tourism projects, with a combined estimated cost of Rs 400 crore, is currently under way, he said.
The projects include the 51 Shakti Peetha Park at Banduar in Udaipur, Chabimura, Narkelkunja, Sonamukhi in Unakoti and Jirania Park.
Responding to a supplementary question from MLA Ranjit Debbarma, Chowdhury said four of the small and medium tourism project locations were situated within areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
He also clarified that there was no plan to transfer tourism projects developed by the state government to the TTAADC.
The minister’s statement came on the first day of the monsoon session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
