Imphal: A high-level delegation from the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) met Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho on August 28 at his Civil Secretariat office in Mantripukhri, seeking immediate government intervention and justice in connection with the killing of six Liangmai Naga civilians earlier this year.
The delegation submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister through Dikho, appealing for an early resolution to the case.
The six victims were killed on May 13, 2026. Their mortal remains have been kept at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) morgue for more than three months, as the community has refused to conduct the final rites until justice is served.
The delegation was led by MBC General Secretary Rev. Jolly Rimai and included Youth and Education Secretary Rev. Jackson Sapunii and Peace and Development Director Rev. Molarhring.
The leaders briefed Dikho about the emotional and financial difficulties faced by the bereaved families. They also expressed concern about the delay in the investigation, saying the situation was adding to the familiesโ grief and causing growing concern in the community.
The memorandum contained three main demands. The MBC called for the investigation into the May 13 killings to be expedited so that those responsible could be identified and punished.
The delegation also sought government rehabilitation, financial compensation and institutional support for the affected families.
It further sought adequate security and safe transit arrangements to enable the community to conduct a dignified burial once justice is assured.
The Convention urged the state administration to act swiftly, saying timely government action was necessary to prevent any further escalation of tensions and restore peace and normalcy in Manipur.
Dikho heard the grievances of the church leaders and assured them that the state government was concerned about the matter.
He said their demands would be reviewed and that necessary government support and assistance would be provided to help resolve the issue at the earliest.
