Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on August 29 inaugurated a newly constructed academic building at Dhemaji City College, developed under the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) for Rs 3.92 crore.
The new facility is expected to strengthen the college’s academic infrastructure and provide a better learning environment for its growing student community. The institution, which previously faced low enrolment, now has around 1,700 students.
The building includes multiple classrooms, a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre equipped to accommodate 100 computers, a meeting hall with seating for up to 500 students, and separate toilet facilities for male and female students.
The infrastructure has also been designed to allow further expansion as the college’s student population grows and its future requirements increase.
Pegu highlighted the inauguration as an important step towards strengthening and modernising higher education infrastructure in Assam, particularly in districts such as Dhemaji.
The new facility is expected to give students improved access to modern classrooms, digital examination facilities and better infrastructure for academic and institutional activities.
