Guwahati: An ICU physician at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday while on duty at the hospital premises.
The doctor, identified as Prayash Singhal, was posted in the ICU of the hospital’s new building on the second floor when the incident occurred, according to sources.
Hospital staff reportedly found Singhal unresponsive and alerted the police. A police team subsequently reached the hospital and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Sources said the doctor may have been under mental distress, though the circumstances leading to his death have not been established.
The police are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident as part of the preliminary investigation.
