Guwahati: Assamese film Oiii Police!!!, starring Ravi Sarma and Amrita Gogoi and directed by Suvrat Kakoti, will be released in theatres on January 22, 2027.
The film’s release was postponed following the floods in Assam, which claimed lives and displaced people across the state.
The official trailer launch was held in July in the presence of the cast and crew, media representatives and members of the film fraternity. Although the trailer received a positive response at the event, its release on social media was postponed in view of the flood situation.
The trailer gives a glimpse of a film combining action, humour, emotion and family entertainment, while presenting a story that goes beyond a conventional police drama.
Oiii Police!!! marks the reunion of Ravi Sarma and director Suvrat Kakoti after their earlier collaboration on Shri Raghupati.
Speaking about the release, director Suvrat Kakoti said, “We had thought of releasing the film in August, but our entire team was not mentally and emotionally ready to think of running a film when our own people were in a terrible condition. We visited a couple of villages and joined hands to help as many people as we could. The situation is much better now, and we can think of announcing our release date after consultation with all our well-wishers and industry experts.”
“From the very beginning, our intention was to make a complete entertainer, one that people would want to watch with their families on the big screen. We have worked extensively on the screenplay, performances, music, and visual scale because audiences today expect much more from regional cinema. The trailer is only a glimpse; the film has many more surprises in store,” added Suvrat.
The film also marks the return of the Ravi Sarma-Suvrat Kakoti-Pranay Dutta collaboration following Shri Raghupati. Its official trailer is scheduled to be released on social media before the end of 2026.
