Assamese YouTuber Bhukhan Pathak has stepped forward to support families affected by the Assam floods of 2026.
Pathak travelled to Sivasagar to help rebuild the homes of two economically disadvantaged families whose houses were completely destroyed by the floods.
The cornerstone of his initiative was the construction of two new houses, providing the affected families with a permanent roof and restoring their sense of dignity and hope.
Both houses have been given names inspired by Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, connecting the humanitarian initiative with Assam’s rich cultural identity.
The first house, constructed at Gorkokh village in the Panbecha area of Sivasagar, has been named Zubeen Aloy. Dedicated to Zubeen Garg, the name represents light, hope and a new beginning for the flood-affected family. The family had lost its home during the devastating floods. The newly constructed house now provides them with a secure place to live and an opportunity to rebuild their lives.
The second house has been constructed at Sukanpukhuri village in the Betbari area of Sivasagar district. The house has been named Sonere Sojuwa Poja, after one of Zubeen Garg’s popular Assamese songs. For the family who received the home, the name carries a special emotional significance, while also paying tribute to the immense cultural influence of Zubeen Garg in Assam.
During the initial phase of the 2026 Assam floods, Pathak launched his relief initiative by dedicating approximately Rs 3 lakh toward food distribution and essential supplies, reaching vulnerable communities across various flood-hit regions of Sivasagar.
While these essential food and supplies provided immediate relief to families struggling in the aftermath of the disaster, Pathak’s commitment extended far beyond short-term assistance.
During the second phase of his initiative, Pathak returned to Sivasagar for approximately fifteen days, immersing himself in the field to work directly alongside the flood-affected communities. Under this sustainable phase, his team constructed two new homes for families whose homes had been entirely destroyed. Furthermore, direct financial assistance was distributed to numerous individuals in need, empowering them to manage urgent expenses and begin rebuilding their lives.
The initiative also reached Nazira, where an elderly couple received essential household items, including a bed and mattress, to help rebuild their lives.
Altogether, Pathak spent approximately Rs 2.5 lakh during the second phase of his relief and rehabilitation efforts.
Combining both phases, his reported expenditure on the 2026 Assam flood relief initiative comes to approximately Rs 5.5 lakh.
Pathak’s relief work extends beyond the 2026 floods. He has used his personal resources and public platform to support families and individuals facing difficult circumstances. His relief activities have included food distribution, essential supplies, financial assistance and the construction of homes for flood-affected families.
Bhukhan Pathak is also regarded by many in Assam and the Northeast as one of the pioneers of the region’s YouTube and digital-media industry.
He became the first Silver Play Button recipient from Northeast India in 2017, marking an important milestone in the region’s growing presence on YouTube and social media.
Over the years, Pathak has emerged as one of the prominent digital personalities associated with Assam and the Northeast, building a large audience and becoming an early example of a YouTube and social-media star from the region.
His latest humanitarian initiative demonstrates another dimension of that influence.
