Imphal: Four Kuki-Zo MLAs have condemned the killing of four Kuki-Zo civilians in two separate attacks in Tollen in Manipur’s Tamenglong district and Longpi in Noney district on September 13.
The deceased were identified as Seineh Singsit, his wife Lhingjangai Singsit, Thangroel Gangte and Julie Gangte.
The MLAs accused the NSCN-IM of carrying out coordinated attacks against Kuki-Zo people and alleged that 22 Kuki-Zo civilians have been killed since the Kuki-Naga violence began.
According to the MLAs, the first such killings took place at Thawai Kuki on March 10, 2026, when two civilians were allegedly abducted and killed. They said the two were the first victims of the Kuki-Naga conflict.
The MLAs further alleged that Naga groups had attacked or burnt at least 25 Kuki villages during the conflict, forcing more than 2,000 Kuki civilians to leave their homes.
They questioned how many more deaths and instances of destruction would be required for the government to take action against what they described as persecution of Kuki-Zo people.
