Dimapur: Noklak Deputy Commissioner P Mono Khiamniungan on Monday said temporary restoration work on the Lein bridge along the Noklak-Panso road via Lengnyu/Tsuwao has been completed, allowing light vehicles to resume movement.

The bridge collapsed on July 19 following heavy rainfall upstream, cutting off several surrounding villages.

In a circular, the Deputy Commissioner said the restored bridge is currently motorable only for light vehicles. Commuters, vehicle owners and drivers have been advised to drive at a safe speed, avoid overloading and exercise caution while crossing the bridge.

He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities and follow the safety advisory to minimise disaster-related risks.

The 57-foot-long and 10-foot-wide temporary wooden bridge was constructed within a short period by the Noklak District Disaster Management Authority and the Nagaland Roads & Bridges Department, with support from the village councils of Lengnyu and Tsuwao.
