Bordumsa: The latest Arunachal Pradesh Digital Newsletter has highlighted a range of government initiatives spanning strategic frontier connectivity, critical infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, tribal enterprise and tourism across the state.
The 118th edition of the newsletter, covering September 1 to 15, brings together initiatives focused on connectivity, human development, indigenous livelihoods and institutional strengthening in Arunachal Pradesh.
The visit of Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan provided a significant backdrop to the development narrative. Addressing a special session of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Itanagar, he described Arunachal Pradesh as a “proud guardian of India’s borders” while highlighting its cultural richness and development potential.
Connectivity and infrastructure remain key areas of focus. The North Eastern Council (NEC) completed projects worth Rs 82.41 crore in Arunachal Pradesh during July and August, besides releasing nearly Rs 15 crore for additional projects in connectivity, healthcare and education.
The commissioning of an upgraded 40-bed hospital at Likabali in Lower Siang, equipped with advanced emergency and diagnostic facilities and a dedicated blood bank, was among the healthcare initiatives highlighted in the newsletter.
The government is also focusing on public education, with Chief Minister Pema Khandu reiterating the thrust on strengthening government schools through better infrastructure, teacher availability and implementation of the National Education Policy. Thirty meritorious students were felicitated under the State’s Golden Jubilee Meritorious Students’ Awards.
Agriculture is being positioned as an area of rural economic growth, with the government encouraging farmers to expand into horticulture, floriculture, medicinal plants and allied sectors. The state’s first Agriculture Information Hub-cum-Farmers’ Hostel has also been launched to provide farmers with access to information and support while promoting entrepreneurship.
The government’s outreach to Longding, Tirap and Changlang has focused on connectivity, infrastructure and development gaps in the eastern districts. Discussions involving legislators and Zilla Parishad chairpersons have also taken up these issues, where difficult terrain and strategic considerations remain significant challenges.
The development initiatives also extend to indigenous livelihoods. TRIFED’s first Tribal Artisan Empanelment Mela at Ziro sought to connect indigenous artisans with national and international markets, providing traditional craftsmanship with a potential pathway towards sustainable livelihoods.
Nadi Utsav focused on river conservation and aquatic biodiversity, highlighting the need to protect Arunachal Pradesh’s rivers and waterways from pollution, illegal fishing and hunting.
Tourism has also been linked with livelihood generation. A five-day Eco-Adventure and Cultural Tourism Training Camp at Longding provided local youth exposure to adventure activities and encouraged them to explore tourism as an economic opportunity.
The state’s sporting and adventure activities also featured in the newsletter. Kino Yakap scaled the 7,077-metre Mount Kun in Ladakh, while para-badminton player Biri Takar won a bronze medal at the Japan Para Badminton International 2026.
On the institutional front, 25 trained forensic personnel were added to the State’s criminal justice system after completing specialised training in crime-scene management at the National Forensic Sciences University in Gujarat.
The 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah is being taken to Anganwadi centres, while cultural preservation received a boost with the inauguration of a manuscript scanning and documentation facility at the Tai Khamti and Singpho Museum in Chongkham.
The initiatives featured in the latest edition cover infrastructure, human development, livelihoods, institutional capacity, tourism and cultural preservation across Arunachal Pradesh.
