Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH) Guwahati Assam is inviting applications from eligible candidates for recruitment to the posts or career of Field Investigator in 2026.

Essential Qualifications:
i. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Humanities, or a related
discipline from a recognized institution.
ii. Applicants should be Assamese- and/or Hindi-speaking and possess good spoken and written communication skills in English.
iii. Preference will be given to candidates who are currently residing in Assam, preferably
Guwahati, as accommodation expenses will not be covered by the project.
iv. Prior experience in qualitative research, conducting interviews, community-based research, or related field activities.
v. Ability to use smartphones, computers, and online communication platforms for conducting and recording interviews.
vi. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with
participants.
Desirable Qualifications:
i. Experience conducting in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), or other
qualitative research methods.
ii. Experience with transcription and translation of interviews from Assamese and/or Hindi into English.
iii. Familiarity with research ethics, informed consent procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
iv. Experience working with street vendors, informal-sector workers, or other vulnerable
populations.
v. Familiarity with the social and cultural context of Assam.
Roles and Responsibilities:
i. Conduct in-depth interviews (IDIs) with street vendors in Guwahati City in accordance with the approved study protocol.
ii. Establish rapport with participants and facilitate interviews in a professional, respectful, and culturally sensitive manner.
iii. Obtain informed consent from participants and ensure adherence to ethical research principles throughout all field activities.
iv. Audio-record interviews (where consent is provided) and maintain accurate field notes to support data collection.
v. Transcribe interview recordings verbatim and translate transcripts from the local language into English
vi. Maintain confidentiality, privacy, and secure handling of all participant information,
recordings, transcripts, and study documents.
vii. Ensure completeness, accuracy, and quality of collected qualitative data before submission to the Supervisor.
viii. Support the administration of surveys among street vendors, as required under the project protocol.
ix. Accurately record survey responses using electronic data collection platforms or paper-based tools, as applicable.
x. Coordinate regularly with the Principal Investigator, Project/Field Coordinator regarding field schedules, progress updates, field-related challenges.
xi. Adhere to project timelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and institutional research guidelines.
xii. Assist with logistics, documentation, and other project-related field activities as required.
xiii. Undertake any other duties related to the project as assigned by the Principal Investigator or Project/Field Coordinator.
