Manipuri films
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has announced 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films as part of the official Indian Panorama selection this year.

Imphal: Two Manipuri films have been selected to screen at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025, scheduled from November 20 to 28, 2025, in Goa, the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) stated in a statement issued on Saturday.

The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has announced 25 feature films and 20 non-feature films as part of the official Indian Panorama selection this year.

In the non-feature section of the festival, Manipuri filmmaker Borun Thokchomโ€™s documentary Battlefield, an 80-minute exploration of the untold stories of the Second World Warโ€™s Imphal battle, has been officially selected.

Produced by Manjoy Lourembam, Radhesyam Oinam of Network Services Imphal, and Viswamithra Universals, Battlefield will have its world premiere at the 56th IFFI.

In the feature section, debutant filmmaker Dinesh Naoremโ€™s 102-minute feature film Oitharei (โ€œSave My Soulโ€) has secured a spot.

Oitharei, a searing portrayal of a widowโ€™s plight and trauma in the aftermath of the ongoing ethnic unrest in Manipur, reminds us that socially conscious storytelling remains alive and urgent in the state.

The secretary of MSFDS said, โ€œThe selection of these two films is indeed a moment of pride and celebration in the world of Manipuri cinema.โ€
