Guwahati: Marking World Environment Day 2026, waste management organisation Binbag conducted a series of awareness and e-waste collection initiatives across Assam, engaging students, communities and institutions in environmental conservation activities.
As part of the campaign, the organisation collected over five tonnes of e-waste during the past seven days.
Binbag, in collaboration with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), organised an e-waste collection drive at the NRL Township. The programme included awareness sessions and student engagement activities aimed at promoting proper disposal of electronic waste.
A spokesperson from NRL’s Environment Cell said responsible e-waste management remains an important part of the refinery’s environmental commitments and noted strong participation from residents of the township.
In another initiative, Binbag partnered with the Tihu College Science Forum (TCSF) to observe World Environment Day through a series of competitions and awareness activities.
These included a one-minute reel competition, drawing competition, street play competition and interactive discussions on environmental conservation and climate action.
Tihu College Principal Suresh Bharali said such programmes help encourage environmental responsibility among young people and welcomed continued collaboration with the organisation.
Binbag also collaborated with Dream India Network to conduct an environmental awareness programme at Natun Fatasil Town High School.
Students participated in sessions on waste management, e-waste disposal and environmental conservation, and took a pledge to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.
The organisation said the initiatives were aimed at promoting responsible waste management and increasing awareness about environmental sustainability among different sections of society.
