Guwahati: A search operation in Guwahati’s Garbhanga Reserved Forest ended in tragedy after police recovered the body of a 25-year-old man who had gone missing during a Sunday outing.
The deceased, identified as Fatasil resident Nikhil Jha, had visited the forest with friends, police said.
According to preliminary information, the group was spending time in the forest and had entered a water body for bathing when Jha disappeared.
Despite efforts by his friends to locate him, he remained untraceable, following which his family members and local residents informed the authorities.
Rani Police subsequently launched a search operation in the forest area to find the missing youth.
Jha’s body was recovered on Monday (July 13). Police carried out the necessary procedures at the location before sending the remains for post-mortem examination.
Police have begun examining the circumstances surrounding the death to determine what led to the incident.
