Guwahati: Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati has recovered and returned an unattended bag containing foreign currency worth more than Rs 10.14 lakh to its owner.
According to the airport, the bag was detected by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) during routine security screening at Terminal 1 on June 26 through the Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS).
Following standard security procedures, the bag was secured and handed over to the airport’s Lost and Found team.
The bag contained US$10,720, 175 Chinese yuan, medicines and other personal belongings.
Airport officials said the passenger’s identity was established using the name written on the bag and medicine strips.
After reviewing CCTV footage, the Lost and Found team found that the passenger had already boarded a flight to Hyderabad.
In coordination with the CISF and Hyderabad airport authorities, the passenger was traced, ownership of the bag was verified, and it was returned to an authorised representative.
Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited.
According to the airport operator, the incident reflects the coordination between airport teams in recovering and returning lost property to passengers.
