Guwahati: Assam Congress Nagaon candidate Pradyut Bordoloi has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar regarding the misuse of power and authority by Superintendent of Police, Nagaon (APS), Swapnil Deka.
Bordoloi wrote, “On 24th of April, Mojibur Rehman, the Mandal Congress President of Laogaon Block, was abruptly arrested from his home on the alleged grounds of abetting child labour at a brink kiln in Beltoli, Lalgaon. However, it has become abundantly clear that this arrest was based on fabricated charges.”
Bordoloi took to X and wrote, “ As the Congress campaign in Nagaon culminated today with tremendous momentum, the ruling BJP has chosen to respond by using the administration to target Congress functionaries with fabricated cases.”
Bordoloi further claimed in the letter that “the reality of the situation is that a minor child belonging to an adult labour couple was merely present at the site, as they had no alternative arrangement for childcare.”
Bordoloi has urged the ECI “to take immediate and decisive action against concerned officials for their role in fabricating this case.”
