Dibrugarh: Chongkham police seized 26.6 grams of suspected heroin and arrested one person from the Mimey area of Arunachal Pradeshโ€™s Namsai district.

The accused has been identified as Chow Yasha Hopak (41), a resident of Chongkham.

Acting on credible information regarding the illegal sale of contraband substances in the Mimey area under Chongkham Police Station, a police team conducted a search operation.

During the operation, the police team reached the residence of the suspected person, where a search was carried out following due legal procedure in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses.

During the search, two soap cases containing yellowish-orange powder suspected to be heroin were recovered from the residence of the accused, where the contraband had been kept concealed.

On weighing, the recovered suspected heroin was found to be 26.06 grams.

The operation was led by Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Namsai, and Lady Inspector Nang Kyami Khen, Officer-in-Charge of Chongkham Police Station, in the presence of Executive Magistrate Chongkham Kenge Loya.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Sangey Thinley, APPS, Superintendent of Police, Namsai.

A case has been registered at Chongkham Police Station vide Case No. 03/2026 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is in progress.
